Red currants, dried cranberries and cassis – classic, cool-climate Cabernet aromatics. Oak gives direction, but fruit leads the way. Red currants (again) hit the palate – along with blueberries and cinnamon. Balance is the key here – nothing jutting – everything aligned. Tannins are soft and the finish is long. True to the variety, it will continue to blossom over the next decade.
Once again an exceptional wine at the price: vibrant, unmistakably Coonawarra to smell and taste, bursting with flavours of blackcurrant, mulberry and herbs, and fine, elegant and juicy in the mouth.
With the rise of the “natural wine” movement, we were pleased to discover we’d been making this wine “that way” for years…with wild yeast , no additions and no clarification, this is a wine of energy and life.
Lovely rich straw colour from centre to rim – it’s erudite and refined. It has a tease of citrus, and a hint of dried-herbs with fine ribs flowing from an acid spine.
Very deep opaque crimson in colour. A complex nose showing sweet, lifted aromas of red currants, plums, tobacco and violets with cedar, cigar box and anise notes. A great vintage, drink now to 2016.
